If you have an older Apple Time Capsule lying around, chances are it's stuck in a drawer somewhere, maybe with a dead power supply. Nobody seems to know what the official drive size limits are, but I just connected an 18TB hardware RAID to a 1st generation Time Capsule, and it works. To duplicate my setup: Configure a 4-drive hardware RAID using this enclosure.

software raid is messy. if you move off site, the software mirror would go into error and require a rebuild. Aside from the issue of using software raid will give you only one copy.
right now, you can time machine to an attached drive (to your mac), the TC router using the internal drive, or an attached drive. The attached drive can be a USB with hardware raid (been there, done that). Or you can backup to an extreme, using the external drive options. There are other backup destinations that are possible.

Time Capsule Raid 1 Raid

Hi all.
With the recent changes in my HW inventory I ended up with two almost identical Samsung F1 1TB drives.
One is currently my OS drive and the other one is a multimedia storage one.
Now, I am thinking that the best solution for me might be setting them both up into a RAID-1.
The OS + a few apps is well under 100GB, the multimedia one is around 400GB, I also have a 320GB external drive and a 500GB Time Capsule if I need to offload the data somewhere..
But what I'm hoping for is that perhaps there is a software solution that allows me to merge my data on one drive, clone to the other and from there start using them in RAID-1?
All the drives except Time Capsule are NTFS already if that helps..
